Art in the Neighborhood corner

During Rovaniemi‐week, 2.‐8.9., Studio&Gallery Villa Vinkkeli turns into a lively atelier filled with hustle and bustle of the 12 working artists. The guests are invited to follow how a white canvas turns into a piece of art in the hands of the artists. They are working with many different techniques and the guests can follow the work in progress every day of the week. There is also an exhibition to be viewed in the gallery and its garden by the 12 artist joining the event.

The artists of Villa Vinkkeli during the event:

Laura Haapamäki, who paints fantasy sceneries with Photoshop on a computer. Ink and watercolor works are done by Tytti Muurinen and Tanja Kähkönen. Eila Puhakka and Sari Sandberg work with textiles, felt and reindeer leather as materials. Tuomo Tiensuu paints fantastic Lapland landscapes with watercolors and Juulia Niiranen as well as Reetta-Kaisa Parviainen paint mindscapes with acrylics. Kikka Yli‐Penttilä is a jewellery designer from Turku, who uses silver thread as a material. With Maria Nurmela the guests can participate to make their own ring from birch bark as well as take a refreshing footbath of birch leaves. Sculptor Tommi Seppänen works in the garden and there is an installation of his cement ducks on the lawn.

During the weekend the group is joined by Tuure Marski, who is making a huge life-size reindeer of willow branches. The reindeer needs a name and the guests can participate in a competition to suggest one. The name competition is also open online but those who bring their choice on location will participate in an extra raffle. There is also a photo contest and the best selfie taken in Villa Vinkkeli wins a prize.

The guests can also take a little break at the patio and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee complimentary on the house. Art bazar offers photographs, paintings, postcards and books by the artists amongst others.

Villa Vinkkeli is open 2.‐8.9.2019 Mo-Fr 1–6PM and Sa-Su 11–6PM.
